What are the league divisions?
Rookie For our youngest players, ages 5-6, T-Ball is Co-ED and our first developmental league. Everyone has fun learning about baseball. Practices and games take place on weekdays and weekends at Vernier, Mason, Ghesquiere and Monteith.
Girls Softball: Players are assigned to teams organized across Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods. Teams practice and play locally and against teams from other District 6 leagues. Softball registration can be completed at Grosse Pointe Little League Softball > Home (grossepointesoftball.com)

Collegiate Machine Pitch: Intended for 7-8 year-olds who can advance to the next level. Our Collegiate League is a developmental league with entry level competition. A machine is used for pitching to the hitters. Players learn more about positions, base running and strategy. Umpires are provided. Season ends with a tournament of all teams. *** 6 year olds interested in playing Collegiate will have the opportunity to try out based on team availability and player skill level.
Minor League: Intended for 9-11year-olds. This league is our first, fully competitive level. Six inning games are played, umpires are provided, players pitch, outs are recorded and players learn positions. Results and Standings are recorded and at the end of the season playoffs determine the AA Champion. 8 year olds who wish to try out for our Minor division will have the opportunity to do so in March. Selection is based on player skill level and division space.
Major League: For 11-12 year-olds who are selected through our annual draft. This is our premier, competitive league for players 11-12. Major league teams require a significant commitment with games up to 3 days per week and practices 1-2 days per week. ***10 year olds interested in playing Majors will have the opportunity to try out in March. Entry to Majors is based on skill level and availability.
Intermediate (13) and Senior League (14-16): For those who want to continue to play baseball in Grosse Pointe. This league provides an advanced baseball experience with larger diamonds.
Challenger League: For special needs children and adults ages 4 and up. Games are played May through August on our own two adaptive fields located in Clinton Township MI. Please contact Marilyn - [email protected] for more information.
When does it all start?
Registration begins in December 2025. After tryouts (check online for dates) and registration is complete, teams are formed and schedules are determined. Coaches will begin contacting parents and organizing practices in late March. Games typically start the last week of April or the first week of May.
When is Parade and Picture Day?
Opening Day 2026 is tentatively scheduled for Saturday May 2nd. It is comprised of a parade, games, team photos and ceremonies. For the first time in league history the parade will occur at Ghesquiere Park. Games and ceremonies are at Ghesquiere Park.
Who are the Coaches and Board Members? Coaches and Board Members are volunteer dads and moms. All coaches, volunteers and board members are required to participate in a background check.
